Description:   Enjoy continuous entertainment of music and dance from around the world. Visit the many ethnic booth displays. Enjoy delicious ethnic foods. Bring the kids to the children's show held on Saturday.

We are an organization of cultural groups and individuals who aim to work towards a society that insures and enjoys the viability of a strong Canadian identity firmly grounded in the multicultural nature of the population. Our society should provide all inhabitants with equality of opportunity and full participation in the life of our area.

OUR OBJECTIVES
This Council has been established to preserve, maintain, and stimulate the creative expression of all cultures and folk art heritages through the association of people with each other and through the interaction with our communities.

WHAT DO WE DO
  • Promote multiculturalism in the Leeds and Grenville Counties
  • Foster intercultural understanding
  • Assist newcomers and other Canadians on multicultural issues
  • Promote groups and individuals in maintaining and developing their culture heritages
  • Provide workshops

HISTORY

  • Participated in Brockville’s Sesquicentennial Parade
  • Sponsored workshops and international seminars
  • Sponsored Refugees Christmas Party
  • Support ethno cultural events
    Information booth, international teas at Thousand Island Mall
  • Visited seniors in nursing homes
    Introduction to new immigrants
  • Poster contests
  • Worked with folk arts groups and Multicultural councils in other cities
  • Sponsored Native Indian folk art and Culture
  • Worked with and under the assistance and guideline of the Ministry of
  • Citizenship and Culture, and the Dept. of the Secretary of State
  • International Christmas at the Brockville Museum
  • Worked with Pathfinder groups
  • Acted as reference agency on multicultural questions.

  CERTIFIED FAIR TRADE COFFEE IS THE OFFICIAL COFFEE OF
THE BROCKVILLE MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL

Fair Trade organic coffee provides a first class cup of coffee and gives a fair deal to the coffee farmers. The coffee farmers are organized into co-operatives. The trade process is monitored from the farmer to the consumer. It is brought to you at the festival by the local chapter of the Council of Canadians.
